AMPS I started out with all kinds of cheesy little amps. Then I got a Roland Cube 40. It's a great little amp. It almost withstood the test of time but it must have blown. So now I have a Marshall MG-50CD.
For fun I also have the 15 watt mini stack that looks great with a Les Paul Pee Wee or Micro Strat leaning against it! I also have a great little amp that I have not seen around anymore. It's called the Muscle. I took a radio shack box and made a battery holder that holds "c" batteries and use it to power my Muscle amp. It's a great portable option. If you are interested in knowing more about my modification, just email me. Crate makes a couple of portable battery operated amps.
For lower cost amps a good choice are the Marshall 30 watts:
For acoustic guitar and midi guitar I plug into a keyboard amp: You probably would get better results from a true acoustic guitar amp like the ones below:
Finally here's a nice little 20 watt Marshall limited edition amp that I like:
