Music

Creating music can be easy for some.   A lot of musicians have said that songs come to them.  They write them in five minutes and the next thing you know, they have a hit song that is being played on the radio.  Other musicians have a tough time writing songs.  I think I'm in this category.  If I want to write a song, it sometimes becomes frustrating.  What I have found out about myself is that if I start with an idea and then try creating from that idea, I usually have good results.  Sometimes it's frustrating but if you keep at it, it seems to get easier.

My first example is not the first song that I wrote, but it's the first song that I had an idea of how it should sound.  Being that I'm a big Joe Satriani fan, I thought "wouldn't it be great to be able to write a song that sounds like him."  So from there I figured since the Silver Surfer was already being used why not use another character from the comic.  So I picked Nova.  I wrote the song about Nova in the Silver Surfer comic and basically tried to make it sound like Joe.  I know it's not perfect and my guitar playing is questionable, but for being my first original guitar instrumental, I'm happy with it.  I guess later when I learn to play the guitar the best that I can, I will try playing the lead over again.  So here's my first example, (easy on the criticism):

Nova 

The next song was inspired by the Star Trek Voyager series.  There is one episode where they go into something that's called a slip stream on the show.  The overall sensation is almost like you are going faster than it feels like you are going.  Well at least that's what it looked like.  Anyway, I tried to reproduce that overall feeling in the following song:

My last finished solo effort is a ballad.  I figure all this hard rock guitar instrumentals need to have a break.  So my try at a guitar ballad instrumental is the tune Carmen's Song.  Just your average song for a girl.
